The hotel is located near the Dam Square, which
is now a focus of tourist activity. You are close to all the major
shopping streets and department stores, night life and canals and
the fabulous Amsterdam museums and art galleries are easily reached
either on foot, or by public transport. The Central Station is
about 5 minutes walking distance.
Tourist Attractions in the Dam Square include the wax-works museum Madam
Tussauds, some churches and the Dutch Royal Palace. It is only few minutes
walk to Anne
Frank's House and even the famous Red Light District is close by. Close
to the Square is an area called Jordaan which is famous of it's antique stores
and little café's and restaurants.
General services such as banks, post offices, tourist
information and chemists are all close at hand in the Dam
Square.
Directions
From the Schiphol Airport:
A. Train
Take the train to Amsterdam Central Station ( € 3.00 one way ) . From
Central Station take any of the trams 4, 16, 24, 25 for 1 stop to Dam Square.
On your left side of the Square you will find Damstraat.
Our address is Damstraat 22-24. Travelling time is about 18 min. From 6 AM
until 24 PM 4 trains per hour, rest of the day at least one train per hour.
B. Shuttle Bus
You can take the shuttle bus from CONNEXXION to DAM square for € 10.50
one way. It runs from 7.00 AM till 9 PM, every half hour. You find the desk
of Connexxion in the airport in the main entrance/departure hall, to the left
hand side. The Hotel de Gerstekorrel is one minute walking from the bus stop
on the Dam square.
C. Taxi
The taxi from the airport costs approximately € 38,00.
Parking
The closest parking garage is located in the Dam Square. There are also several
other public parking garages close to the hotel.
